Dr. David Jourdenais

Dr. David Jourdenais grew up in the 1960s and 70s in Tampa, Florida, where he spent his childhood rehabilitating and releasing injured, orphaned, and abandoned native Florida wildlife—an early start to what would become a lifelong passion for caring for animals. After high school, David moved to Gainesville, Florida, in 1981 to attend the University of Florida as an undergraduate Poultry Science major. Upon graduating Valedictorian from UF’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989, Dr. David returned to Central Florida.

Dr. David initially practiced avian and exotic medicine at Winter Park Veterinary Clinic under the tutelage of Dr. Robert Hess. In 1991, he moved to Geneva and opened Geneva Oaks Animal Hospital alongside Dr. Janice Jourdenais, who had been building a farm-call equine and small ruminant veterinary clientele in the area. The hospital expanded in 1995 with the addition of a boarding and grooming facility. Dr. Janice has retired from practicing veterinary medicine.

Dr. David currently volunteers his expertise by providing veterinary care for The Orlando Science Center, Seminole County Natural Lands, the Ed Yarborough Nature Center, and the Central Florida Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, where he is a longtime board member.

In his free time, Dr. David enjoys spending time with his two daughters, Gatienne and Veronique, his son, D’Amery, and his English Bulldog, Matilda (aka Mattie), who was adopted from the Pixel Fund, along with his two cats, Minnie and Zahara.
