Dr. David Jourdenais

Dr. David Jourdenais grew up in the 1960’s and 70’s in Tampa, Florida where he spent his childhood rehabilitating and releasing injured, orphaned and abandoned native Florida wildlife- an early start to what was destined to become a lifelong passion of caring for animals. After high school, David moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1981 to attend the University of Florida as an undergraduate Poultry Science major. Upon graduating Valedictorian from UF’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989 (where he also met and married his wife, Janice), Dr.David returned to Central Florida. After practicing avian and exotic medicine at Winter Park Veterinary Clinic under the tutelage of Dr. Robert Hess, Dr. David moved to Geneva in 1991 and opened Geneva Oaks Animal Hospital with Dr. Janice Jourdenais who had been building a farm-call equine and small ruminant veterinary clientele in the area. The hospital doubled in size in 1995 with the opening of the boarding and grooming facility. Dr. David currently volunteers his expertise by providing veterinary care for The Orlando Science Center, Seminole County Natural Lands, the Ed Yarborough Nature Center and the Central Florida Wildlife Rehabilitation Center where he is also a longtime board member. In his time off Dr. David enjoys spending time with his two daughters, Gatienne and Veronique, and his son D’Amery. Dr.David has another “child” named Matilda (aka Mattie) an English Bulldog who he adopted from the Pixel Fund and two cats, Minnie and Zahara.

Dr. Janice Jourdenais

Horse Fever is one of the many books Dr. Janice read as a child and learned that once infected, there was no cure. She rode horses throughout her middle and high school years showing in the local Hunter shows and was a charter member of the Greater Orlando Hunter Jumper Association. During those happy years, Dr. Janice decided to become a veterinarian with a special interest in horses. When she met Dr. David the first day of Veterinary College at the University of Florida and married mid-way through college, they dreamed of opening their own veterinary hospital. After graduating with Honors in 1989, Dr. Janice started out solo with her mobile equine practice. She and Dr. David opened Geneva Oaks Animal Hospital in 1991 where they began their mixed animal practice of horses, dogs, cats, and exotic pets. Practicing veterinary medicine and surgery both on farm calls and in the clinic, meeting the clients and all their special babies ranging from horses, sheep, goats and pigs to dogs and cats was exciting and rewarding for Dr. Janice. Regrettably, she had to retire from active practice, and although she continues to manage the clinic from behind the scenes, she misses her clients and their babies. At the same time, she got to stay home to raise her 3 beautiful children. She takes great pride in the high-quality care Dr. David continues to provide and the very kind and loving clients that have trusted the Drs Jourdenais for so many years. She is thrilled to present a redecorated hospital facility, a new website and many more ways to serve the needs of the fur/feather/scale babies and their parents. She invites you to come see their hospital in the fresh country air.

Kelly Gualandi

Office Manager & Lead Veterinary Technician

At the young age of four, Kelly knew that her destiny was to help animals. As a child, she owned many pets of her own and would always bring home stray animals. She grew up in Tampa and moved to central Florida in 2000. Over 14 years ago, she adopted her first greyhound and has been passionate about helping the breed ever since. She has rescued four greyhounds total and currently owns Fox, a greyhound, and Elise a wolfhound mix. In 2002, her dream came true and she started working for Geneva Oaks Animal Hospital. She started in the kennel and worked her way up to the receptionist and finally the Lead Veterinary Technician. She has been a part of the Geneva Oaks team for 15 years! Kelly enjoys all aspects of working in the veterinary field but has a special interest in surgeries and client education. In her spare time, she enjoys taking her fur kids to the beach and enjoys fishing and anything outdoors.
